This site began one Christmas as I sat in my living room staring at the mountains of torn and discarded wrapping paper, sticky tape, plastic bags, useless packaging, ribbons and gift tags. Almost none of it could be recycled and I thought to myself “Next Christmas is going to be different. Next Christmas if it can’t be recycled, I won’t buy it. Next Christmas I’ll buy toys and gifts that come with less packaging and are more environmentally friendly. Next Christmas I won’t have to throw this amount of waste in the bin.” As I thought about it more and more I began to realise that I wasn’t alone in feeling frustrated. I’m not the only one who enjoys shopping and gift giving but hates seeing things go to waste. I can’t be the only one who is concerned about the future of the planet and wants to do something about it without giving up my central heating and my car. So, I decided to set up this website, share what I’ve learned and encourage as many people as possible to do what they can. I’ve spent many months researching this site and finding easy ways in which to be a little bit greener. We can all do better and waste less and it doesn’t take much effort to make a start.
